The Jurassic Collection | Handcrafted Porcelain & Ink Jewellery Series

For the main focual point of this collection, our inspiration stemed from the Jurassic Coast.

With a deep, rich history and saturated in memories, the Jurassic Coast is a famous landmark in the Dorset county. We were excited by the creative opportunities it had to offer.

For our designs, we wanted to reflect the intricate rock patterns and details the coast had, while also creating elegant pieces.. Initially creating these designs, we were cautious about diluting the inherent beauty of the heritage found within this part of Dorset, afraid of losing the same essence we were trying to grasp.

Using Porcelain Clay and Ink as the main elements in the pieces, we have created a series of organically crafted products that follow our principles in design.

For our most of our Porcelain & Ink Series we use Sterling Silver (Ag) .925 for our studs and butterfly backs. This adds to the natural elements we strive to incorporate while also being comfortable and high-quality; giving you a long-lasting piece you’ll love.

With some of our more exclusive pieces, we used Yellow Fine Gold (Au) 9ct for our studs and butterfly backs, some combined with 22ct Yellow Gold Leaf from Florence, Italy. These natural elements add a luxurious feel to the design and aesthetic of the piece, encapsulating our pursuit for beauty within a box.

Gaining inspiration from the organic shapes and subtle tones of ancient fossils and sandstone, infusing each piece with an earthy character that is had to find anywhere else, while also custom blending the distinctive hues found there.

Through our craftsmanship, we used the limestone cliffs, with their rugged edges and ocean beaten rocks, to encapsulate this rough exterior within each of our designs, using the natural surface of the Porcelain Clay to our advantage. Although Porcelain Clay has a naturally smooth drying finish, we were able to use this to create dimension and character to each piece, bringing the entireity of the Jurassic Coast into one set of earrings.

Each piece reflects the colours and textures found along this shoreline, perhaps even the beauty of the view itself..

Clay and Ink are two of the oldest and most naturally occuring materials from the Earth, used in art. They’re inherent, unprocessed nature meant it needed little refining for it to already have a beauty of it’s own. This is why the rough, textured surface of the clay has been highlighted in the design and not hidden.

When designing this series, as always, we had high standards for the level of craftsmanship we wanted to achieve. Each piece has an intricate pattern design and a custom-mixed colour, which allows us to emphasise it’s exquisite nature.

To encapsulate the concepts of individualism within this series, the shapes are not created to be exactly identical or perfect to each other. Instead, we reference to the naturally occuring Limestone as a source of inspiration; each rock is completely different to the next but the beauty is unaltered.

Our steadfast dedication to creating beauty and redefining the concept of beauty remains the same. Beauty does not always equal perfection.
